Paddle Boarding at Elysian Retreat
Quiet moments. Clear water. And a different kind of adventure.
Elysian Retreat, located in a peaceful port on Long Island, is bordered by a rainforest and reef. The bay's calm waters make it perfect for easy watersports.
We have activities that don't require prior experience. You can go paddle boarding or take a kayak out for a gentle ride around the bay. And let the tide set the pace.
Go in the Calm Waters with Gentle Movement
The bay is peaceful when the tide is high. The water gets deeper, the surface gets smoother, and everything moves more slowly. This is the best time to go on a paddle board and glide along with no effort. You might even see a turtle swimming below or a flash of silver from a fish that swims by.
The rainforest gets closer to the coast, and the only sound is the soft rhythm of your paddle. It's not so much what you do as how it makes you feel. Always distinct, consistent, and totally present.
Why You Should Go Stand Up Paddle Boarding in Whitsundays
If you like it better to stand and see more of your surroundings, stand up paddle boarding (SUP) in the Whitsundays waters gives you that little extra height. It’s the same slow, steady pace as traditional paddle boarding, but with a broader view. Out to the reef, back to the rainforest, and into the water below.
Many of our guests enjoy the gentle core engagement of SUP as a morning activity, before breakfast or just after coffee. It’s movement without pressure, focus without effort.
And since you’ll be paddling in our protected bay during high tide, there’s no current to work against. Only a peaceful time on the water.
How to Get Here
Elysian Retreat is set apart from the rest. Our location is what makes these peaceful water experiences possible. You won’t find crowds or noise here. Just you, the tide, and the sound of your paddle in the water.
Let the Bay Set the Pace
Watersports at Elysian aren’t about rushing. They’re about quiet movement, steady breath, and being present in a peaceful place.
Whether you're gliding across the surface or just floating still, it’s a simple, grounding way to connect with where you are. The tide brings the timing. You just have to show up.
